Singapore—The chaotic state of Libya’s oil sector was underlined Thursday after it emerged that gunmen had attacked a large crude oil tanker close to the Libyan port of Es Sider. The 2010-built iron ore/bulk/oil combination carrier, A Whale, which is on time charter to Dubai-based ECB Global, was attacked near Benghazi by armed men aboard a small boat. ECB official Mohammad Al Ansari told Platts by telephone from Dubai that the boat looked like a navy vessel.
