Chevron to avoid fracking in Romania exploration

London—Chevron does not intend to use hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in the initial stages of its exploration campaign at two blocks in Romania, despite having won approval from the regional environmental authorities for the company to begin work at the sites. On May 8, Romania’s environment ministry said that local environmental agencies had given Chevron the green light to begin exploration work at the Constanta and Vaslui blocks in southeast Romania close to the Black Sea coast.
