London—Norway’s DNO International has expanded its acreage position in Tunisia by agreeing to farm into and take over operatorship of an offshore block that could hold up to 700 million barrels of oil. DNO said Tuesday it would take an 87.5% stake in the Sfax offshore permit and the Ras El Besh concession from Atlas Petroleum Exploration Worldwide and Eurogas International. The Sfax permit and the Ras El Besh concession are in what DNO calls the “prolific” Gulf of Gabes and cover 3,296 sq km mostly offshore in shallow waters.
