Essar tweaks slate to raise Stanlow margins

London—Indian group Essar’s switch to socalled “opportunity crudes” at its Stanlow, UK, refinery reaped a $1/barrel increase in its refining margins last year while other changes have added close to an additional $1/b, according to the plant’s management. And, they say, further projects are expected to bring even more gains in the face of what remains a challenging environment for European refiners.
