Industry, regulators, discuss shallow water safety

Washington—About 25 oil and gas industry representatives who work in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico met with top US regulators Thursday, including Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, to discuss safety measures in the wake of several high profile losses of well control. The meeting was held in Houston with Jewell participating via video. James Watson, director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, and other top Interior Department officials also attended.
