London-The price of EU carbon dioxide allow- ances jumped 11.6% to as high as Eur4.79/ mt ($6.21/mt) in extremely volatile trading on Wednesday, after the European Parliament backed a proposal to delay carbon auctions in a bid to curb a supply glut. EU Allowance (EUA) futures contracts for December 2013 delivery on the ICE Futures Europe exchange in London rallied after the parliament voted in favor of a measure to help fix the oversupply.
