NDRC approves offshore Penglai field development

Singapore—China’s National Development and Reform Commission has approved the development plan for the Penglai 19-3 oil field offshore China in the Bohai Bay, the National Energy Administration said January 11. Penglai is China’s largest offshore oil field and was producing 122,000 b/d before it was completely shut-in in September 2011 following seeps of oil-based drilling mud into the surrounding seabed at two production platforms.
