New funding revives Bangladesh SPM plan

Dhaka—The Islamic Development Bank agrees to up contribution by $91 million, to $220 million, to help Bangladesh build its first single-point mooring system. The IDB wants to convince Middle Eastern donors to meet the remaining cost of the project. Bangladesh will also seek other funding to build the $327 million SPM near Kutubdia island in the Bay of Bengal, a senior Finance Ministry official said Friday.
