Iran’s Zanganeh vows to speed South Pars work

Tehran—Iran’s new oil minister Bijan Zanganeh said he would muster every resource to speed up the start of production at five phases of the much-delayed South Pars offshore gas field. South Pars, an extension of Qatar’s North Field in the Persian Gulf, is key to Iran’s plans to eventually become a major gas exporter. “From now on, work on the rigs and offshore operations, the offshore gas transportation pipelines and also building gas processing facilities must be done in a way that results in gas production in the shortest possible time,” Zanganeh was quoted as saying by the semi-official Mehr news agency on Thursday.
