US natural gas storage volume rises 41 Bcf

Knoxville, Tennessee—US natural gas in storage climbed 41 Bcf to 2.786 Tcf for the week ended July 19, the Energy Information Administration said Thursday in its weekly report. The net injection was well below consensus expectations of a build between 47 Bcf and 51 Bcf. A year earlier, EIA reported a 26-Bcf injection, while the five-year average is a 53-Bcf build. As a result, the 414-Bcf deficit to the year-ago level fell to 399 Bcf, while the 34-Bcf deficit to the five-year average of 2.832 Tcf grew to 46 Bcf.
