Japan set for gas-from-hydrate production

Singapore—Japan’s Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry has started preparations to launch experimental production of gas-fromhydrates offshore central Japan—the first such experiment to be carried out in the world. In a statement January 29, METI said trial production would be carried out between January and March this year. METI will analyze the results of the trial production in fiscal year 2013-14 (April-March) and try to set up the necessary technology for commercial production, it said.
