Sinopec, CNPC see higher domestic production

Singapore—China National Petroleum Corp. and Sinopec successfully raised their domestic oil and gas production in 2012. CNPC January 8 said its crude production increased by 2.6% year on year to 110.33 million mt (2.22 million b/d) last year—the highest in 17 years and the third year running that the company has managed to increase output by at least 2 million mt. CNPC achieved stable production from major oil blocks such as Daqing and Changqing. Output at the latter exceeded 45 million mt of oil equivalent. Of this amount, crude output rose 13% year on year to 22.62 million mt, it said. Progress was also made at western blocks, including Tarim, Tuha and Xinjiang, which produced a total of 18.39 million mt, CNPC said.
