BP eyes sinking billions more into Alaska

Anchorage—BP plans to spend an additional $1 billion on new investment and two drilling rigs at its Alaska North Slope fields over the next five years, as a result of a reduction in the state’s oil and gas production tax, the company said Monday. The London-based oil major also said it was considering an additional $3 billion worth of new development projects with its partners in the Prudhoe Bay area, home to the US’ biggest oil field.
