Tepco’s LNG purchase for January near record high

Tokyo—Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company plans to buy around 2.3 million mt of LNG in January, which would be its largest monthly purchase volume in fiscal 2012-13 (April- March) amid a bullish winter demand period. Tepco’s planned LNG purchase volumes in January will be up 10% from its purchase volume of around 2.1 million mt in December, when the company consumed 2.20 million mt in the month, sources close to the matter told Platts January 8.
