Pittsburgh—The nearly 2 Bcf/d of new pipeline capacity coming online Friday from four large expansions in northeastern Pennsylvania is only a drop in the bucket for a region that is pumping out more than 12 Bcf/d of gas, industry officials and analysts say. On paper, that sounds like a major bottleneck- breaker for a pipeline-constrained supply basin—but this is the Marcellus Shale, a play that has made experts’ volume predictions look foolish.
