Kazakhstan to restart onshore bid rounds

Moscow—Kazakhstan plans to hold its first bidding round for onshore blocks since 2008 later this year, offering at least three exploration licenses, with around six more to come in 2014. The auctions could well garner much interest from international companies effectively shut out of taking new acreage in Kazakhstan, home to some of the Caspian region’s biggest oil and gas fields.
