Statoil, partners, to build major oil pipeline

London-Statoil and several other companies developing the major Edvard Grieg and Ivar Aasen fields in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea have decided to move forward with plans to build a major new pipeline to link into Norway's oil export pipeline network. The Norwegian state-controlled company said the pipeline solution was a pre-condition for developing the Edvard Grieg field, operated by Swedish group Lundin Petroleum, and the Ivar Aasen field, operated by Norwegian group Det norske oljeselskap.
