Long products prices have been supported by clean air action in the lead up to APEC but, given better supply/demand conditions, prices in Shanghai have been firmer than those in northern China. With winter approaching, the supply/demand balance will loosen and Chinese long products prices are likely to soften in the coming month.

7. Commodity prices have risen sharply since 2006. This may benefit developing countries specialized on primary exports, but poverty may increase. Uruguay is a net exporter of primary products and a net importer of oil.
