Husky coy on Flemish Pass oil discoveries

Vancouver—Two offshore oil discoveries in Atlantic Canada’s undeveloped Flemish Pass Basin will need further exploration to reach an economic “threshold” for a new commercial development in the region, Husky Energy CEO Asim Ghosh said Thursday. He told a conference call that the Mizzen and Harpoon finds, with Statoil as 65% operator and Husky holding the balance, have yielded varying grades of crude, but “we don’t think we’re at a [development] threshold.”
