Houston—Shallow-water rig contract driller Hercules Offshore would be “interested” in talks to buy one or more jackup rigs that driller Noble Corp. intends to sell, according to Hercules’ CEO. “If they have a desire to dispose of some of their legacy jackup fleet, we’d be interested in having discussions with them,” CEO John Rynd said October 25 during his company’s quarterly earnings conference call. Noble has said for at least a year that it wants to sell some non-core jackup rigs as it upgrades its shallow-water jackup and deepwater fleets through a multi-billion-dollar newbuild program.
