New Origin gas field starts output off Australia

Sydney—Australian upstream company Origin Energy has started gas production at the Geographe gas field, part of the Otway project in the Bass Strait, offshore southeastern Australia. The development of Geographe, approved in October 2011, comprised well drilling and installation of subsea facilities to connect the field to the Otway gas project’s existing pipeline, Origin said Monday. The onshore Otway gas plant was also upgraded, increasing its LPG storage capacity there by 50%.
