JX produces low sulfur fuel oil out of ESPO

Tokyo—Japan’s JX Holdings has begun using Russian ESPO crude to produce low sulfur fuel oil for thermal power generation, company chairman-elect Yasushi Kimura told reporters April 26. The use of ESPO to produce LSFO has given the refiner some flexibility as it now has an option to supply low sulfur crudes from Indonesia for direct burning instead of using the Indonesian grades to produce LSFO, Kimura said.
