Singapore—PetroChina reported August 23 net profit of Yuan 62.03 billion ($9.8 billion) for the first half of 2012, down 6% from the same period a year ago, citing lower domestic gas prices than the cost of natural gas imports, as well as government-controlled product prices. Revenue for the period rose to Yuan 1.05 trillion, up 9.9% from the first six months of 2011.
