Houston—The Helix Well Containment Group,formed to contain oil spills in the Gulf of Mex-ico, has tentatively accepted Mexico’s Pemexas a part of its consortium, the state oil com-pany’s director-general said March 6.“We have been told that the board ofHelix has accepted us,” Juan Jose SuarezCoppel told reporters after presenting atCERAWeek in Houston, an industry gatheringhosted by consulting firm IHS CERA.“We have to write down a memorandumof understanding for final agreement,” Suarezsaid. “But the board of Helix has accepted usas members.”
