EU points to possible jet fuel import policy change

London-The European Commission could review its plans to impose a new 4.7% duty on jet fuel imports from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Libya if a current consultation finds the move would have "extensively negative" effects for the EU. There has been concern in the aviation industry that changes to the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP), unveiled last October and due to start on January 1, 2014, could see the price of jet fuel imports rise, and ultimately lead to increased charg- es for passengers.
