Fire shuts Train 2 at BP Indonesian Tangguh project

Jakarta—BP has shut the 3.8 million mt/ year Train 2 at its Tangguh liquefaction plant located in Papua’s Bintuni Bay, in eastern Indonesia, due to a fire. In a brief statement November 8, the UKbased oil major said: “A fire occurred at Tangguh Train 2 at 11:30 am local time on November 6. Train 2 was immediately shut down and within one hour the fire was extinguished. There were no injuries in the incident. Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.” The 3.8 million mt/year Train 1 was not impacted by the incident and the restart of Train 1 is ongoing following on-time completion of its scheduled maintenance turnaround, the company added.
