Petronet eyes RasGas for Kochi commissioning cargo

New Delhi—Petronet LNG is in talks with long-term supplier Qatar’s RasGas for a commissioning cargo for its upcoming Kochi LNG import terminal located in Kerala on the southwest coast of India. The 5 million mt/year Kochi terminal would be in a position to start commissioning by January 2013—a delay from the previous fourth-quarter 2012 commissioning time-table—and is likely to operate at only 20% of its capacity in the first year due to delays in setting up pipeline connections from the facility, Petronet LNG CEO A.K Balyan said October 19.
