Chinese rebar and wire rod prices witnessed marked gains over December's price assessment, as demand improved from early in the month through to the end of the year. In the past four weeks, prices have climbed by RMB180-220/t ($29-35/t) compared to month-ago levels. Demand was spurred by stockists undertaking a phase of restocking activity ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year (10th February 2013), rather than an uptick in real demand.
