Enerplus to cut capital spending by 20% in 2013

Calgary—Canada’s Enerplus Corp. will chop 2013 capital spending in its North America oil and gas operations 20% to about C$680 million ($680 million) as it contends with rising operating costs and unfavorable oil price differentials. ”On a quarterly basis, our [operating] costs have risen to C$12.32/barrel, compared with C$10.90/barrel, while WTI differentials have been very volatile and we do not see that changing much in 2013 due to the continuing pipeline capacity constraints,” said CEO Gordon Kerr in a third-quarter results conference call on November 9.
