Maersk sees output dip, tanker writedowns

London—Denmark’s Maersk Oil posted a 34% fall in third-quarter taxed profits to $243 million, down from $368 million last year, on a big dip in oil and gas output, while Maersk Tankers suffered a blowout in Q3 losses to $277 million against a $39 million loss last year, hit by tanker writedowns. Maersk Oil’s profit was hurt, the company said, by a 23% decline in production to 240,000 b/d of oil equivalent from 312,000 boe/d, reflecting continued declines from its mature North Sea fields and a share in production from its Middle East operations.
