Tokyo—Japan May 9 approved a 10-year restructuring plan for utility Tokyo Electric Power Company that will see the government take a controlling stake and raise the share of its gas-fired power generation. Under the plan announced by the government- backed Nuclear Damage Liability Facilitation Fund, Tepco is targeting to raise the share of gas-fired power generation on a KWh basis to 49% by fiscal 2021-22 (April-March) compared with 27% under an earlier plan unveiled prior to the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
