CNPC restarts some Sudan, South Sudan oil output

Singapore—China’s state-owned CNPC said August 31 it has been working since mid- August to restart crude production at its projects in Sudan and South Sudan following a deal between both sides over oil transit fees. CNPC has a 40% stake in the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company, which produces Nile Blend from blocks 2 and 4 in Sudan and block 1 in South Sudan. CNPC is the main foreign investor in both Sudans and China is the main recipient of crude from the countries.
