Reliance profits lower on refining margins

Mumbai—Indian refining and petrochemicalgiant Reliance Industries on April 20 postednet profit of Rupees 42.36 billion ($812 mil-lion) for the January-March quarter, down 21%from a year ago on lower refining margins.Net profit for the full financial year (April2011–March 2012) was also lower, by 1.2% atRupees 200.40 billion, from the year earlier.Gross refining margin (GRM) for what isthe fourth quarter of the financial year for thecompany came in at $7.60/b compared with$9.20/b in the same period last year.GRM for the full year was at $8.60/b,marginal improvement from $8.40/b in theprevious year.
