Petrobras, Total well in US Gulf starts production

New York—Production at an ultra-deepwater well jointly owned by Petrobras and Total in the US Gulf of Mexico has begun, the Brazilian state-owned company said. “The Chinook #4 production well was drilled and completed in Lower Tertiary reservoirs ... a promising offshore exploration frontier which is located at a depth of about 8,000 meters,” Petrobras said in a statement late September 13. The company holds a 66.67% stake in the well in the Chinook field. Total Exploration Production USA holds the remaining 33.33% stake.
