Bangkok—Myanmar’s about-turn on itspetroleum export policy, coming in the wakeof dramatic changes in its political land-scape, will mean reduced access to addi-tional hydrocarbon supplies for its energy-hungry neighbors such as Thailand, Chinaand India.Gas from Myanmar makes up a quarter ofThailand’s total supplies, which last year aver-aged 4.14 Bcf/d, up 2.6% on 2010, accord-ing to the kingdom’s Energy Policy & PlanningOffice. Thai officials, however, are downplay-ing the likelihood and potential impact of achange in policy from Myanmar.
