Houston—Not quite a month since its initial public offering, newly minted E&P Midstates Petroleum attracted praise May 15 from two industry analysts who predict its oil-directed focus and experienced management team should translate into growth. “It’s a good ol’ fashioned oil company,” noted Wells Fargo analyst David Tameron in launching coverage of Houston-based Midstates, which targets conventional oil resources in Louisiana and should benefit from premium pricing for its Light Louisiana Sweet (LLS) production.
