Jakarta—The Indonesian government is consid-ering either raising the price of subsidized fuelsby Rupiah 1,500 (16 cents)/liter or capping thesubsidy payout at Rupiah 2,000/liter irrespec-tive of movements in crude oil prices in aneffort to reduce its subsidy costs, Energy andMines Minister Jero Wacik said February 28.The government has presented the twooptions to parliament’s committee VII onenergy and mines issues for a final decision,Wacik said.
