Lagos—Nigerian white-collar oil workers’ union Pengassan warned on August 13 that the growing insecurity in the country was posing a major threat to Abuja’s bid to attract muchneeded investment in oil and gas exploration. Security forces have been battling against an insurgency launched by a radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram (which means “western education is sinful”), which has killed hundreds in gun and bomb attacks so far this year.
