Lab tests connect Gulf oil sheen to Macondo

Houston—BP does not believe that oil discovered last month in the Gulf of Mexico near the site of the Deepwater Horizon 2010 drill rig acci dent is coming from its sealed Macondo well. The company, along with the rig’s owner, Transocean, received a notice October 9 from the US Coast Guard that tests it had run on an oil sheen in the Gulf of Mexico connected it to the well and the Deepwater Horizon drill rig.
