Mexico City—Mexico’s Pemex on June 8 announced it spudded the Supremus 1 well in the Perdido Fold Belt at a water depth of 2,900 meters, the deepest ever achieved by the state-owned oil company. The well depth of Supremus is programmed to be 4,000 meters, Pemex added in its official Twitter account. Pemex also said that the Trion 1 well has been spudded west of Perdido in the Salina de Bravo region in an effort to evaluate subsalt plays. Trion is being drilled in waters of 2,535 meters to a depth of 7,529 meters.
