Eni delays start-up of Norwegian Arctic field on costs

London—Italy’s Eni has postponed the startup of its Goliat oil and gas field in Norway’s Barents Sea by almost a year while cost pressures have inflated the price tag of the development by over 20% to $6.2 billion. Due to the delay in the delivery of the field’s floating production platform, Eni said the field is now expected to come onstream during the third quarter of 2014, compared with a previous estimate of the fourth quarter of 2013.
