While a seasonal slowdown has certainly started to emerge, and despite the quickly approaching holiday period, buying activity in the long products market maintained some strength in November. That being said, demand has ultimately not been strong enough to support previous price levels, and long products prices in the USA have come down across the board with December transactions. These declines come largely on the back of activity in the scrap market, which has seen relatively little price movements for the majority of 2011, with prices experiencing only minor 5-10 US dollars swings in either direction in most months.
