UK’s EnQuest makes first international move

London—UK-based North Sea producer EnQuest has made its first moves outside of the UK by submitting an application for permits in the current Norwegian exploration licensing round and buying a company with a stake in an exploration block in Malaysia. EnQuest was created in early 2010 with a spinoff of the North Sea assets of Sweden’s Lundin Petroleum and the UK’s Petrofac with a view to exploiting smaller, late-life assets in the North Sea that larger companies abandoned for higher earning upstream opportunities.
