China’s Sinopec shuts 2 Guangdong refineries

Singapore—China’s state-run oil giant Sinopec has shut three facilities—two refineries and one chemical plant—in the southern Guangdong province following criticisms from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Sinopec said September 27. The refineries to be shut include a 13 million mt/year (261,068 b/d) Guangzhou refinery operated by Sinopec subsidiary Guangzhou Petrochemical Co.; 5 million mt/year Dongxing refinery operated by subsidiary Zhanjiang Dongxing Co., and a chemical plant operated by subsidiary Zhanjiang New Zhongmei Chemical Industries.
