Sydney—State-owned Japan Oil, Gas and Met-als National Corporation will provide equityfinancing of around Yen 28.2 billion ($356million) to back the purchase by a consortiumled by Tokyo Electric Power Company of aminority stake in Chevron’s Wheatstone LNGproject in Western Australia.Under the terms of the deal, announcedJune 18, Tepco has teamed up with Japa-nese trading house Mitsubishi Corporationand shipper Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaishato form PE Wheatstone, which will acquirefrom Chevron an 8% stake in the Wheatstoneonshore liquefaction facilities, and 10% in theWheatstone and Iago offshore gas fields.
