Tethys, DNO strike oil in Oman exploration

Dubai—Swedish independent Tethys Oil and Norway’s DNO International have both made progress proving up oil with recent exploration wells in Oman, the companies reported separately July 18. Tethys and its partners have discovered three new oil-bearing fault blocks on Oman’s Block 3 concession, while DNO confirmed the presence of oil in the Thamama reservoir in offshore Block 8. In a statement, Tethys said 10 wells were completed during the second quarter of 2012 on the Farha South field on Block 3 onshore Oman, with three of the wells resulting in the discovery of three new oil bearing blocks.
