Petrobangla lowers proposed hike in domestic gas price

Dhaka—Bangladesh’s state-owned oil andgas company Petrobangla has revised down-ward its proposed hike for natural gas pricesto domestic consumers, following a request inFebruary by the Ministry of Power, Energy andMineral Resources to do so, a senior com-pany official said June 21.The company is now looking to raise naturalgas prices for its domestic consumers, exclud-ing households, by up to 103% to meet risinghydrocarbon exploration and gas purchasingcosts, compared with its earlier proposal to liftprices by up to 122%, Petrobangla’s director offinance, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Khan, said.
