Lagos—Gunmen shot dead September 9 three workers from Nigeria’s state oil company NNPC who had gone to repair an oil products pipeline damaged by thieves in Nigeria’s southwest. “Suspected oil pipeline hackers opened fire on a team of engineers and technicians of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company [an NNPC subsidiary] deployed to effect repairs on the recently vandalized products pipeline,” NNPC spokesman Fidel Pepple said.
