Calgary—Imperial Oil is in the preliminary stages of developing two new in-situ oil sands facilities in Alberta, company spokesman Pius Rolheiser said May 9. The first project will be located about 45 km (28 miles) northeast of Fort McMurray and have a nameplate capacity of 80,000 b/d of bitumen.
