Tullow, Anadarko make Cote d’Ivoire light oil discovery

London—UK-listed Tullow Oil and its partner, the US’ Anadarko Petroleum, said June 7 they have made a “good quality” light oil find offshore Cote d’Ivoire, the first in block CI-103, de-risking other prospects offshore the west African country and opening up an entirely new oil play. Shares in Tullow, which has had a string of exploration successes in Africa in recent years, rose after the announcement and by the close in London were up more than 2% at GBP14.68, valuing the company at GBP13.3 billion ($20.7 billion).
